Right now, at this very moment, I have one friend battling cancer. I have one friend that is remission from breast cancer, and several friends and family members that have had anywhere from Stage 0 to IV melanoma removed in the past year alone. It has taken the lives of several of my friends and several of my partner's friends. It does not care how young you are, how old you are, how rich or how poor.

I have accepted the Massey Challenge, presented by Apex Systems, a division of ASGN incorporated, as a member of the Development and Alumni Relations team because I want to see a world without cancer. VCU Massey Comprehensive Cancer Center is working to save lives and find cures right here in Virginia.  To support their life-saving cancer research, I have accepted the Massey Challenge to fundraise and to give my miles meaning at the Ukrop's Monument Avenue 10k.

By fundraising for Massey, my 10k will have special meaning and honor those I love who are battling – or have battled cancer.
