I have accepted the Massey Challenge because I want to see a world without cancer.

Every day, my mother takes a stand against cancer. As an OBGYN, she faces the harsh reality of its effects and toll on people. After my grandfather died from cancer a few years ago, I knew that cancer was affecting the loved ones of many others. So, I chose to join the St. ChristoCURES Team to raise not only money but also awareness. With this being my first year as a captain of the team, over the past few years, I have enjoyed the fundraising and cohesion the Massey Challenge brings.

VCU Massey Cancer Center is working to save lives and find cures right here in Virginia, and, to support their life-saving cancer research, I have accepted the Massey Challenge to fundraise and make my miles matter at the Ukrop's Monument Avenue 10k.

By fundraising for Massey, my 10k will have special meaning and will honor those I love who are battling – or have battled cancer.
