A Run for My Dad

Allison Gilman

Allison Gilman

My COVID hobby was running. Some of you may know, I’ve been jogging four or five times a week in preparation to run a sub 1 hour 6.2 miles in the Ukrops Monument Avenue 10k next Saturday. I started running regularly in March of 2020, but running has taken on a whole new meaning for me during all of the tumult of the past year. It has done wonders for my mental health, and I feel really connected with my dad while running, especially on long runs.

I’m running the 10k this year in honor and memory of my dad. I’m also participating in the Massey Challenge. VCU’s Massey Cancer Center is working to save lives and find cures with their research. While my dad didn’t spend much of his journey at VCU, I want to do anything I can to help fundraise and put an end to the menace that is cancer.

So if you can, please help me make my miles matter! Click the link above to donate, and thank you in advance. <3
