Every one of us has potential to be a champion in the fight against cancer – and that is why our family has been fundraising for VCU Massey Cancer Center since 2010 and is back this year in spite of a huge tragedy.

This year we are dedicating our efforts to my late husband, Troy Durham, who passed away suddenly and unexpectedly a few months ago. Although he didn’t have cancer, for eight years he was actively behind-the-scenes supporting our family fundraising efforts for Massey and proudly cheering us on. Over the years, he helped make phone calls, mail letters, and write thank you notes. And, although we are struggling daily with new challenges in our family, we know he would want us to make something positive from our grief and continue to help others by fundraising for Massey … just like we’ve done every spring since 2010.

This year, with your help, if we can raise $20K for Troy, the Durham family cumulative fundraising efforts for Massey Cancer Center will total more than $100,000 over eight years. That is a huge milestone that is important for us to accomplish this year.

My sons, Tucker (age 16) and Patrick (age 10), will be running the Monument Avenue 10K on April 14th with me and helping to raise $20,000 for Troy as we honor his memory by doing something GREAT.

This is a big goal, so we need your help! Please consider supporting the cutting-edge, life-saving work being done at Massey Cancer Center as we honor Troy and others YOU love who are impacted by cancer.

THANK YOU! Kelly, Tucker and Patrick
