When I moved to Richmond in 2011, I knew I wanted to get involved in the community in a meaningful way. A volunteering opportunity with a Massey Cancer Center event presented itself, and today, over six years later, I currently serve as the president-elect on the executive committee for the Massey Alliance, the young professional board that supports VCU Massey Cancer Center.

Over that span of time, I've been able to see firsthand the great work that does Massey Cancer Center does and I'm proud to be a part of raising awareness and funds for a cause that means so much to me.

One of my favorite things about Massey? As part of a “safety net” hospital, Massey is committed to caring for all Virginians regardless of their insurance status or ability to pay. At least 30 percent of Massey's patients are minorities and Massey is designated as a Minority/Underserved NCI Community Oncology Research Program institution to lead a statewide clinical trials network that fosters access to cancer research for minority and medically underserved patients.

Thanks so much for your support of my fundraising efforts for an important cause.
