Dear friends and family,

As I embark upon training for my 7th consecutive Monument Avenue 10K run, I think about all that's changed in these seven years. We've made new friends, reconnected with old friends, welcomed new lives into our families, and bid sad farewells to loved ones. I think especially about Bryan Raybon, who was still with us in April 2011 when I ran this race for the first time. He had been recently diagnosed with lymphoma, and he was taking his treatment in stride. As the months went on, Bryan's prognosis grew increasingly bleak, and by the end of the year, one of the best people I've ever known was just... gone. How valiant he was, though, on his journey. He was as gracious, kind, and full of humor in sickness as he was in health, and I miss him every day.

I run the Monument Avenue 10K now in Bryan's memory. It's my way of doing something so that someday, no one will have a story about losing a young friend to a terrible disease. Since 2012, I've participated in The Massey Challenge, and have raised $7,100 in those 5 years. Each donation made represents a step closer to cures for cancer, and has been a motivational push for me toward the finish line.

Every one of us matters in the fight against cancer. As one more cancer research advocate, I want to fund cures for cancer by supporting VCU Massey Cancer Center in honor of those who are battling and have battled cancer.

When you make a donation towards my fundraising goal, you join my effort to support cancer research, honor those who have battled cancer, and unite our community towards a cure. And thanks to Massey’s corporate partners, 100% of every dollar you donate goes directly to supporting Massey’s lifesaving mission.

I invite you to join me in this journey, and thank you in advance for your kindness and generosity.

With love,
